Google has developed a robot that is able to open doors, lift heavy things and to stand up again after falling down. It has long been discussed when the robots will have a greater impact in both homes and businesses. The Google-owned company Boston Dynamics has developed the latest generation of robot that takes robotic future a step closer to us. In a video released by Boston Dynamics, you can see how the robot model Atlas manages to get around in a snowy forest, open doors and lift heavy things. The video also shows how one of the researchers pushes the robot with a hockey stick to demonstrate how the robot can get up again after falling down. - These types of robots that are able to stand and walk can be used in such rescue operations, but also to replace the simpler jobs. Robots used for example in the rescue operation of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, says Petter "Ogren, doing research in robotics at KTH. Jobs disappear The Council of Economic Advisers Predicting , (which is part of the Office of the President in the White House), in a new report how robots can take over the easier jobs in the future, writes Computerworld. A similar report was made in 2014 in Sweden by the Reform Institute on behalf of the Foundation for Strategic Research. When the researchers behind the study estimated that up to half of all Swedish jobs could be replaced by computers and robotic systems over the next two decades. As the authors wrote that most jobs will be automated within professional groups "salesman, retail and demonstrators." The robot challenges Although the future looks bright for robots, there is a lot that can be developed further. According to "Ogren robots need intelligence and fine motor skills to develop further. - The robots' main advantage is that they are cheaper than people. A robot is quite clumsy and not capable of, for example, such as cutting grass better than a human, but it does it at a cheaper cost.
